The Data Library Development RFA is a new funding opportunity designed to support the development of new features and capabilities for the Data Library, which is intended to be a resource for researchers to access and analyze data related to immunology and other areas of research. By improving the capabilities of the Data Library, the hope is to accelerate its utility and ultimately the pace of research and innovation, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients and the broader community.
Through the Data Library Development RFA, the Bakar ImmunoX Initiative is inviting the community to propose new ideas and solutions for enhancing the capabilities of the Data Library. This could include the development of new tools and features to improve data discovery, sharing, and analysis. Ultimately, the goal of the Data Library Development RFA is to support the advancement of research and innovation by improving the accessibility and usability of data resources in the Data Library.
These are examples of potential areas of development for the Data Library:
Improved search and discovery capabilities
One possible area for improvement is the search and discovery capabilities of the Data Library. This could include enhancements to the search algorithms, the ability to further filter search results, and improved user interfaces to make it easier to find and access relevant data resources.
Development of new tools and methods for collecting and processing data
Creation of new tools and methods that allow for more efficient and effective data collection and analysis, as well as the implementation of new data processing algorithms or techniques that can help to uncover new insights and patterns in existing data sets.
Enhanced data sharing and collaboration
The Data Library could also be improved by providing better support for data sharing and collaboration among researchers. This could include the development of new data sharing platforms, the implementation of more robust data access controls, and the creation of tools and resources to facilitate collaboration among researchers.
Data curation and management
Finally, the Data Library could be improved through better data curation and management practices. This could include the implementation of more robust data quality checks, the development of tools to help researchers better manage and organize their data, and the creation of new policies and guidelines to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of data resources in the Data Library.
This RFA is open to all ImmunoX member labs. The scope of the proposal should be limited to projects that can be completed within a one-year timeline. To participate, members must communicate and collaborate with the Data Science CoLab, which is responsible for managing the Data Library.
The initial submission deadline is set for November 20, 2023, with rolling submissions accepted thereafter. A select committee consisting of the OCR Director, DS CoLab Director, ImmunoX Research Committee representation, and others in the relevant community will evaluate proposals in order to fund them. Matching funds are highly encouraged and may contribute to funding decisions. You are encouraged to contact the OCR Director, Vincent Chan (Vincent.Chan@ucsf.edu) and DS CoLab Director, Gabi Fragiadakis (Gabriela.Fragiadakis@ucsf.edu) about prospective proposals. This can also involve discussion with the Data Library team and a review of current Data Library capabilities. Competitive proposals will be for development that is feasible for the Data Library engineering team, of high priority to the research community, and is a logical extension of the current features and infrastructure of the Data Library. Finalized proposals and letters of support should be emailed to Vincent.
Applicants may direct any questions or concerns related to this RFA to the OCR Director, Vincent Chan (Vincent.Chan@ucsf.edu).
